Hutchison Logistics Announces SOLAS Compliance Readiness

14 June 2016

Hutchison Logistics Limited (“HLL”) is a subsidiary of Hutchison Port Holdings Limited (“HPH”), the world’s leading port investor, developer and operator. With our weighing facilities located in our ports, we can provide weighing service directly to our customers.

BACKGROUND

From 1st July, 2016, a new container weighing regulation under the Safety of Life at Sea (“SOLAS”) convention will require shippers to verify and provide the packed container’s verified gross mass (“VGM”) to the ocean carrier and terminal before preparation of a vessel stowage plan. Without a VGM Declaration, the packed container will NOT be loaded onto a vessel.

A COMPREHENSIVE SERVICE

  • Weigh all ISO container types, sizes and weights by authorized weighing scales.
  • One-stop service which enables container to be weighed efficiently, accurately, and safely at the terminal to save transportation costs.
  • Transmit the VGM declaration automatically and seamlessly to ocean carrier with customer’s authorization.
  • Update or revise the VGM information through HLL VGM portal online 24/7 by customers.
